Executive Staff
Ray Manton
General Manager, Hillston Citrus
Ray has been with ICM since 2002, when ICM purchased Hillston Citrus from Hillston Citrus Partnership. Ray had originally joined that organization in 1987 and, after gaining experience in all of the field and supervisory positions, was invited to take on the managers role in 1990.
The 1990's were characterised by a worldwide oversupply of orange juice, resulting in low fruit prices. Whilst seeking ways to maintain cost competitiveness, Ray developed an interest in mechanical harvesting of citrus, gaining experience and keeping track of progress around the world.
Ray has recently focused on the application of developments in fertilizer technology. A system was devised that would allow fertilizer solutions to be mixed, stored and injected into the irrigation system as required in a safe and cost effective manner.
Ray holds a diploma of Applied Science (Agriculture) from Riverina Murray Institute of Higher Education (Now part of the Charles Sturt University). He also holds various industry certificates for OH&S, quality control, chemical use, machine operation etc.
Ray is now married with 3 children. Having the children grow up in a small outback town tends to endow them with an open, practical outlook on life.
